PUBLIC OPINION SURVEY
AMNESTY AND U.S. IMMIGRATION POLICY
A Nationwide County-by-County Survey Project
Sponsored by Americans for Immigration Control, Inc.
Dear U.S. Citizen,
As a
representative from your area, you are hereby requested to answer the [requested]
enclosed opinion survey on amnesty and immigration policy in the U.S.
Right
now, Congress is on the verge of passing a sweeping and extreme amnesty bill
that would give millions of illegal aliens amnesty. If
lawmakers approve this bill, it will spark a massive new flood of illegal
aliens, double legal immigration and vastly expand guest worker programs for
both low- and high-skilled foreign workers.
That's
why we must ACT NOW to counter this aggressive and imminent threat to our
nation's security, economy, rule of law, and way of life. We cannot allow
radical pro-amnesty groups, like the ACLU, La Raza, and MALDEF, to be the only
voice in Washington during this critical time. Which is
why we are soliciting your opinion as a voter and citizen.
Do you SUPPORT or OPPOSE the Gang of
Eight Senate Amnesty Bill (S. 744), which would give amnesty to millions of
illegal aliens now living in the U.S.? Are you concerned border security is NOT a priority
of some lawmakers in Washington? Should illegal aliens be eligible to receive Social
Security benefits? Are you concerned about the enormous price tag that amnesty
will have on U.S. taxpayers? Are you concerned that the Senate Amnesty
Bill will lead to future amnesties?
Numerous
special interest and political groups are pressuring Congress to pass amnesty
and dramatically increase legal immigration into the U.S. Hispanic community
organizers, for example, are staging demonstrations across the country
demanding amnesty and immigrants "rights." Many Democratic Party
strategists are arguing their candidates could benefit from amnesty and
increased immigration. Certain corporate interests are lobbying for cheap foreign
labor. Hollywood is churning out countless TV shows and movies
dramatizing the plight of the poor "misunderstood" illegal aliens.
The
position of Americans for Immigration Control, Inc. (AIC) is that these efforts
by President Obama, pro-amnesty politicians, and the immigration activists to
legalize the criminal alien invasion of America, increase legal immigration,
and weaken our immigration enforcement efforts are NOT in the best interests of
our country; that the American people DO NOT FAVOR amnesty and weaker borders;
and that Congress should NOT be able to ignore the will of the American people
... if they are allowed to be heard.
That is the purpose of this survey.
Commissioned
by AIC — the largest, most respected not-for-profit group in America dedicated
to a commonsense approach to immigration — this survey will give voters,
taxpayers, and citizens of the United States of America a voice in this
historic debate on amnesty now raging in Congress.
So please, give me your candid answers
to the questions on the enclosed survey as soon as you can. Once I receive your
response, it will be compiled along with the responses from thousands of other
constituents from your area into a final report made available to all Members
of Congress.
We must ensure that lawmakers in Washington know where
their constituents stand on the issue of amnesty for illegal aliens!
As a
result of significant changes to immigration policy over the past 30 years —
including a 1986 blanket amnesty law that gave citizenship to three million
illegal aliens and their dependents, yet failed to secure our borders as the
law promised — legal and illegal immigration has soared to unprecedented
levels. And lawmakers are poised to make this same mistake again!
Not
surprisingly, these unrestricted immigration policies are taking a tremendous
toll on America:
•
An estimated 500,000
illegal aliens pour across our borders, undetected, each year.
• The
U.S. admits almost 1,000,000 legal aliens annually, the
highest sustained rate in our history.
• America takes in more than half the world's immigrants.
• The
cost of legal and illegal immigration to taxpayers is now estimated to be more
than $100 billion a year, including education, health care, and welfare used by
immigrants.
• More
than 20 million people in America cannot speak English.
• Despite a proven failure of bilingual education programs, these programs
remain in effect in many states, costing taxpayers $12 billion a year.
• In
2050, it is projected that 1 in 4 Americans will be Hispanic-and English will
no longer be our country's predominant language.
And
most experts agree: the mass amnesty bill (S. 744) now under consideration by
Congress will dramatically increase both
illegal and legal immigration into our country.
Whether
politicians vote to pass or reject amnesty will have a fundamental impact on
our country's economic stability, national security, and social cohesion for
decades to come.
That's why you cannot afford to have
this debate decided for you. It's
time politicians stopped pandering to powerful special interest groups
clamoring to give citizenship and other rights and benefits to people who broke
the law to enter our country. Alien lawbreakers must not be rewarded with
amnesty.
With
your support today, AIC will ensure that your elected representatives in
Washington pay attention to what you and thousands of other constituents have
to say about amnesty and our nation's "open door" immigration policy —
and take your views and opinions on this issue into serious consideration.
So
far, our leaders in Washington have looked the other way when it comes to responding
aggressively to enforcing our immigration laws, removing incentives for illegal
aliens to cross our borders, and protecting taxpayers from the costly impact of
uncontrolled immigration.
In
fact, some would argue this response is not only perpetuating the immigration
crisis in America, it is part of an overall pro-illegal alien agenda
now being promoted at the highest levels of our government.
And
it has produced a dangerous climate whereby many foreigners have no regard or
respect for our country's sovereignty, laws, or traditions.
That's
why we believe it's extremely important the politicians hear directly and
immediately from voters like you as they consider amnesty and other harmful
policies that could alter the identity, culture, and face of America forever.
So
please take a moment to answer the questions on the [requested] enclosed survey
as openly and honestly as you can, then return it in the pre-addressed envelope
provided to AIC within the next 14 days.
And
just as important, please support this nationwide survey campaign with a
special contribution of $15, $25, $50, $100, or whatever amount you can afford.
Americans for Immigration Control relies solely on the support of individuals
like you to sustain important survey projects like this. We do not have the
backing of any interest group, lobbying organization, or foreign country.
Our
goal is to receive a broad consensus among constituents, including you, from
every county in America about the amnesty bill in Congress and the devastating
impact this-policy would have on you and your community — and then distribute the
results of this survey directly to Members of Congress, the White House, and
trusted media outlets.
Believe
me, what you say can make a tremendous difference in
the outcome of this critical debate on amnesty — especially when you speak out
with tens of thousands of other American citizens.
Your
feedback will help provide the political incentive needed to not only stop
amnesty, but also launch a comprehensive reassessment of our country's
unrestricted immigration policies.
But
again, we must move quickly to ensure your views are taken into account at the
highest levels of government. So please return your completed survey right
away!
Our
current "open borders" immigration policy is fueling record levels of
illegal immigration and legal immigration is at an historic high. Yet,
lawmakers have yet to prove they are serious about controlling our borders or
stopping the flood of illegal aliens into the U.S. And the current amnesty bill proves that many
politicians have not heard the American people on this issue.
As a
result, many communities are grappling with how to handle the devastating
impact of an ever-increasing illegal alien population — at a time when federal
enforcement of immigration laws is rapidly deteriorating.
No
town in America is immune to the effects of uncontrolled immigration.
Our schools, our hospitals, our prisons, our government programs are all under
siege by millions of illegal aliens. And blanket amnesty would make this
problem far worse!
And
so we need more Americans, like you, to speak out against the devastating
impact of uncontrolled immigration in your community and all across America —
and offer your opinions on the rush to give amnesty to millions of illegal
aliens now underway in Congress.
That's why it's extremely important you
take this opportunity to voice your opinions on the [requested] enclosed survey
in order to help guide common sense decisions that will lead to the defeat of
amnesty.
Serious
debate is already underway. So please go on the record today about the amnesty
bill in Congress, which will have a devastating impact on our country's future —
and tell our leaders exactly where you stand on this important issue.
And
please return a special contribution of $15, $25, $50, $100, or as much as you
can afford to support this urgent campaign to stop amnesty in Congress.
The
American people have a right to voice their opinion and be heard in this
debate. Thank you for your participation in advance.
Sincerely,
John
Vinson, President
P.S. Right now, Congress is
considering the passage of a sweeping amnesty bill (S. 744) which will
dramatically increase both legal and illegal immigration into our country.
Americans for Immigration Control, Inc. (AIC) is working to ensure your voice
as a citizen, voter, and taxpaying American is given serious consideration by
our leaders in Washington as they debate this dangerous bill.
Please complete the [requested]

return it along with a generous contribution to support AIC's urgent nationwide
survey project, without delay. I must receive your survey within the next 14

[From
one Survey]...Immigrants, legal and illegal, cost taxpayers more than $100
billion a year according to recent estimates...
Each
year 300,000 - 400,000 babies are born to illegal aliens in the U.S., with taxpayers picking up the enormous hospital bill
for these births – and our government automatically confers citizenship to
these illegal alien offspring...
Households
headed by illegal aliens receive an estimated $2.5 billion in Medicaid benefits
each year, as well as $1.9 billion in programs such as food stamps and free
school lunches, plus untold billions in health care benefits...
Approximately
1 million legal and huge numbers of illegal immigrants are coming to our
country at a time when some thirteen million Americans are unemployed.
Some
studies indicate that we can absorb only about 300,000 per year in total
without causing a dramatic impact and structural changes on population levels
and economic and social institutions...
The
1986 amnesty law, which promised 'amnesty now and enforcement later,' gave
amnesty to 3 million illegal aliens, created an immigration crisis of
overwhelming proportions, in fact, quadrupling the number of illegal aliens in
the U.S., and carried an enormous price tag of $78.7 billion paid for by
taxpayers like you..."

QUESTIONNAIRE

SUB:
2013 PROPOSED POLICY REVISION RE:
U.S. IMMIGRATION
LIMITS & QUOTAS
Dear U.S. Citizen,
You
are hereby requested to answer the enclosed questionnaire concerning proposals
to make significant changes in the current U.S. Immigration Policy.
Your responses to this questionnaire are
strictly confidential. Please take a
moment to answer this questionnaire and return it to our processing center by
the date indicated.
- Are you
concerned about the amnesty bills in Congress which would give mass amnesty to
millions of illegal aliens in the U.S.?
- Do you think
today's immigration policy is too restrictive, too open, or about-right?
- Does the
increasing use of foreign languages in the United States concern you?
- Do you
believe the U.S. can continue to absorb an unlimited number of
immigrants without adversely affecting the economic and social fabric of the
nation?
- Are you aware
of the number of immigrants that are allowed into America yearly?
- Are you concerned about open borders that allow
drugs, diseases and criminals to enter America?
Your
completely candid answers to these and other questions are extremely important
to inform Congress and the Department of Homeland Security (which includes
Immigration and Customs Enforcement - ICE) of data to evaluate and determine
public opinion on proposed major reforms to U.S. immigration policy, including
a sweeping amnesty bill now on the fast track in Congress.
So
please take a moment to complete this questionnaire and return it within the
next seven days. Your answers will be coded for anonymity and kept strictly
confidential.
The
reason you are being asked to participate in this questionnaire is because
there is unprecedented support in Washington for implementing a sweeping amnesty law that will
give citizenship to millions of illegal aliens, dramatically increase legal
immigration and only promise increased enforcement measures in the future.
Pro-amnesty
politicians in Washington have characterized immigration law enforcement by ICE
officers as "terrorism," and workplace raids against businesses
employing illegal aliens have been halted.
As
you know, the Obama Administration, backed by the powerful pro-illegal alien
lobby, has challenged states' immigration laws in the courts, in an effort to
weaken immigration enforcement efforts and pave the way for mass amnesty for
millions of illegal aliens.
These
state measures seek to tackle illegal immigration and reduce the cost to
taxpayers of illegal aliens overwhelming hospitals, schools and prisons. The
Obama Administration actually argued in court that strict enforcement of our
nation's immigration laws was contrary to their immigration policy! Other
states are gearing up to introduce similar legislation, if the Obama
Administration and activist judges do not stop them.
Hearings,
town hail meetings, legislative proposals, editorial discussions and frank and
open debates are being held in Washington, D.C., and throughout the country in greater and greater
frequency to gauge public sentiment on this controversial issue.
This
ongoing debate has been precipitated by U.S. Census projections indicating that
if we continue on our current course, the U.S. population will nearly double
and we will become what has been described as a "majority-minority"
nation, with "non-Hispanic whites accounting for barely half of all residents."1
The
impact of the growing use of Spanish and other foreign languages in our
schools, our economy and our political and social fabric has also increased the
call in many corners of the nation to re-think our "open border"
immigration policy.
Some
elected officials, columnists and policy experts are being increasingly candid
in their questioning and criticism of current policy and proposed changes that
could dramatically weaken border security and immigration enforcement efforts.
But strong public sentiment regarding this sensitive issue remains uncertain.
That
is why you are being contacted now, and why it is so important that you return
your questionnaire promptly.
This
survey could play a vital role in increasing the momentum toward a major
rethinking and reform of U.S. immigration policy by helping establish a statistical
sampling of the general public's accurate sentiments regarding this issue.
This
is not a government sponsored project. It is financed and organized by a
non-profit federally recognized 501 (c)(3) tax exempt organization representing
hundreds of thousands citizens, voters and taxpayers.
This
survey is part of the largest national, state-by-state campaign to provide
Congress, the news media and other opinion leaders with public opinion
information that is critical to helping reverse the trend toward
ever-increasing levels of immigration into the U.S. Its ultimate focus is to build public awareness and
support in every state for the movement to restore traditional limits on Americas immigration policy.
This
is recognized as being increasingly important in light of the fact that America today has the most unrestricted immigration policy in
our modern history. Even in the current recession, with 13 million Americans
out of work, immigrants — legal and illegal — continue to pour into our
country.
Whether
this is good or bad for America is the subject of much debate and demagoguery. But
what is indisputable is that no other issue is having a more profound impact on
every facet of American life.
Data
supporting U.S. Census projections clearly indicate that if we stay on our
current course, our population will double this century; English will no longer
be our clear, predominant language; and we will become what is increasingly
being described as a "New America;" or "A Very Different Nation2;"
or "The Changing Face of America3," or the "Browning
of America4."
Indeed,
evidence of the process of transforming America through the current virtually unrestricted
immigration flow is mounting daily. For example:
- It has been
estimated that services for immigrants, legal and illegal, cost taxpayers more
than $100 billion a year.
- Ineffective
bilingual education programs cost taxpayers over $12 billion each year.
- English as America's primary language is eroding, with drivers'
licenses, voting ballots and citizenship ceremonies now being offered in dozens
of languages.
- It has been
estimated that 400,000 foreigners collect SSI benefits from the Social Security
Administration without having to work in America.
- According to
some projections, immigration costs U.S.-born workers $133 BILLION a year in
job losses.5
- Households
headed by illegal aliens receive an estimated $2.5 billion in Medicaid benefits
each year, as well as $1.9 billion in programs such as food stamps and free
school lunches.
- Research indicates
that immigrants are almost 50% more likely to get welfare than native-born
Americans.
- Over half of
our nation's population growth is due to immigration.

Again,
whether these changes are ultimately good or bad for our nation is the subject
of much heated debate. But as the organization sponsoring this questionnaire,
American Immigration Control Foundation, we are working to help America understand and face the issue of unrestricted
immigration and bring responsible leadership to this issue. To be effective, we
need your participation.
Specifically, to help us
establish a climate of opinion that will lead to responsible immigration law
enforcement, we need you to answer this questionnaire.
Your
name will not be used. AIC Foundation will release the total results of this
survey to newspapers, TV and radio stations across America. We will give the results to every Senator and
Congressman on Capitol Hill. We will make sure that news programs and
talk-shows from coast to coast get a copy.
In
short we will make this an issue that can no longer be ignored, swept under the
rug or dismissed with phony solutions. So please — fill out and return your
questionnaire immediately so we can release the results to your elected
officials and the media. Together, we can make a real difference in the future
of America ... if we move fast!
And
at the same time, we would like to invite you to support this project by
including a tax-deductible contribution of $15, $25, $100 or whatever you can
afford to help support this campaign to enlighten Americans on our nation's
deepening problem of uncontrolled immigration.
AIC
Foundation, one of the nation's largest groups working to study and develop
common-sense immigration policies, is totally citizen-supported. We do not have
the backing of any interest group, lobbying organization or foreign country.
Every dime we have to spend on this effort to wake up America comes from concerned Americans... like you.
So
please - send what you can. Even just a $10 contribution will be extremely
helpful. But if you can send more — $15, $25, $50 or more, please do so. Because there is hope for change — if we can demonstrate to
Congress that there is broad public sentiment in favor of enforcement of
immigration laws and overwhelming opposition to amnesty.
Immigrants
continue to come to America in massive numbers — more than to nearly all other
developed nations of the world combined — thousands each day, hundreds of
thousands each month, millions each year. Indeed, since 1970 the percent of
immigrants vs. native-born Americans has doubled. Today we may have as many as
FIVE TIMES the number of illegal aliens in the U.S. as we did just 18 years ago.
And
so our schools continue to get more strained, an estimated 13 million Americans
are unemployed, millions more can find only part-time jobs without benefits,
almost 40 million Americans are living at or below the poverty level, our
cities continue to get more crowded, our welfare rolls continue to rise, and
our tax burden continues to increase.
We
believe it is time to address the issue honestly and openly, and open up the
debate to the American citizens. There may be no clear wrong or right answer to
all of these complex issues. We believe it simply makes common, prudent sense
to at least re-consider the path we are on and open the debate to the American
people as to whether the current "open door" immigration policy of
non-enforcement of our laws should continue as is, or should be changed.
If you do not participate in this
project, the issue will be decided for you — and America will continue on its
course toward what many feel will be irreversible changes in the economic and
social fabric of our nation — toward what some are already calling "A New America."
How
do you feel about this? Please let our leaders and legislators know by completing
and returning this questionnaire. And include the most generous tax-deductible
contribution you can afford — $15, $25, $50, $100 or more — to help sustain and
expand this important educational effort.
Sincerely,
John
Vinson, President
P.S. The purpose of this survey is to determine
the views of the "average American" regarding proposed changes to
U.S. immigration policy, including amnesty, now under consideration by
Congress, and the doubling of the already record high levels of immigration.
The findings of this survey could have a dramatic impact on the direction of America's immigration policy over the next decade. So please
take a few moments to answer the enclosed questions and return them by the date
indicated. Even if you choose not to answer any of the questions, please return
your unmarked survey for statistical accuracy.
