[In 1-2014 partial letter] I hope you are as proud to accept your 2014 Seniors Coalition Membership Card as I am to present it to you.

You are part of an elite group of active senior citizens who have always stood ready to support The Seniors Coalition with your timely membership renewals, and by taking part in our survey campaigns and other membership programs. You are the key to everything I do here at The Seniors Coalition. So I want to make sure today that you're still on board for 2014!

Your Membership Card is a symbol of our commitment to fight for YOU in Washington, D.C. These are uncertain times. But you can count on The Seniors Coalition to stand up and do what is right for senior citizens...

Right now, America is still at war and economic forecasts are still unclear. But I believe your Membership is the – best investment you can make to protect your Social Security and Medicare benefits...

In fact, your Membership in 2014 will be even more important than last year for two very important reasons:

First, no one really knows what will happen with Social Security. The politicians and special interests are fighting over different proposals in an effort to feather their own nests in this time of national uncertainty. But the Seniors Coalition is fighting for you.

All Americans will have to make sacrifices. But some politicians would like to cut your CoLA and means test your benefits. The Seniors Coalition will fight "sacrifices" that hurt seniors, but are not shared by everyone else!

We're also working with a few good Members of Congress who want to preserve and strengthen Social Security. The Seniors Coalition helped lead the fight to repeal the unfair "earnings limits" that punished seniors who work. This year, we will keep fighting to cut the taxes you pay on your benefits.

Second, we'll do everything in our power to stop the raid [Theft] on the Social Security Trust Fund, which was established to pay benefits to America's retirees. By the government's own estimates, the politicians are already planning to take up to $60 BILLION from the Social Security Trust Fund and "loan" it back to the government to be spent on everything from foreign aid to pork-barrel giveaways.

The greedy special interests are helping themselves to YOUR Social Security Trust Fund money, at a time when America must fight terrorism while saddled with crushing debt. But we will NOT allow "terror" to victimize senior citizens. We will NOT let debt swamp Social Security. And we will FIGHT to protect your retirement!

We're working to cut the wasteful government spending that drains money away from Social Security! This is the single best way to guarantee your retirement security.

Here's my pledge to you: we'll fight any taxes on, or cuts in, your Social Security benefits, because we believe the government must keep its promise to you.

And just as important, we will also continue our fight to protect your health care. We will fight to make sure that your benefits are protected, that you will never be forced off Medicare, and that Medicare will never again be in danger of bankruptcy. We'll also keep fighting to REPEAL President Obama's Federal Health Control Law, to protect your access to, and choices in, health care.

On all these issues -- with your help as a Member -- we will be your strong and effective voice in the nation's capital protecting the future you've earned. But we can't do it alone. Dear Senior American,

Your membership in The Seniors Coalition is absolutely essential for many reasons, but let me give you just five.

1. Social Security Trust Fund "Theft" The politicians have taken more than TWO TRILLION DOLLARS from Social Security and spent it on their wasteful "give-away" programs since 1986. Now, with liberal President Barack Obama back in the White House and the liberal Democrats solidly in control of U.S. Senate, this "theft" is likely not only to continue, but to get much, much worse. The Seniors Coalition will fight for a "Lock Box" law that truly protects Social Security, to make sure your future benefits will never be in danger.

2. No More "Seniors Only" Taxes Senior Citizens are still paying for Bill Clinton's 1993 tax hike on Social Security benefits. This tax is wrong-our current generation of seniors has already been taxed enough. The Seniors Coalition will keep fighting for a total repeal of this unfair tax in 2014.

3. Stop the 12% Social Security Benefit Cut There is a serious and dangerous proposal under consideration in our nation's capital that would cost you 12% of your monthly Social Security check. In a scheme revealed by The Washington Post, former Federal Reserve Vice Chairman Alan Blinder declared that a 12% cut is needed because Social Security is in such bad financial shape. Sadly, he is half right—the Social Security Trust Fund is broke, but cutting your benefits is not the answer. Worse yet, Alan Blinder is a liberal Democrat in a position to have a lot of influence in the Obama administration. The Seniors Coalition will fight to protect your Social Security benefits from this and any other proposed cuts.

4. Repeal Obama's Federal Health Control Law The Seniors Coalition has fought to stop government-run health care since it was first proposed in 1993 by Bill and Hillary Clinton. The liberals lost that time. But they learned from their mistakes and kept at it for 17 years. They broke every rule in the book to do it, but in 2010, Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid finally passed "Obamacare." The Federal Health Control Law must be repealed, and The Seniors Coalition will keep fighting any part of Obamacare that limits your choice of doctors, rations your access to health care, or denies you new life-saving and life-extending medicines and treatments.

5. The War on Your Benefits Must End In recent years, senior citizens have been singled out for attack by politicians who want to "cut costs." Washington has tried to take away the benefits you were promised through means testing, CoLA cuts, taxes on benefits, and other unfair schemes. With your help in 2014, The Seniors Coalition will keep fighting to protect the future you have earned.

We can accomplish these goals, but we need you on board to help us. Tragically, the group formerly known as the "American Association of Retired Persons" has all but abandoned senior citizens lately. They even officially changed their name to "AARP" because they didn't want the word "retired" in it! Worse yet, AARP has supported legislation to raise taxes on Social Security, cut Medicare, and turn your health care over to federal bureaucrats.

Just think about your health care. The new Federal Health Control Law, proposed by President Obama, was rammed through Congress in the dark of night by Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, who were determined to break every rule in the book to pass "Obamacare."

The liberals want to control every aspect of your life. They even want the power to decide whether you live or die. And America's senior citizens are already paying the price for this liberal scheme to drastically expand the size and power of the government by allowing federal bureaucrats to come between you and your personal doctor.

Make no mistake. The new Federal Health Control Law is already forcing senior citizens to give up access to life-saving and life-extending medicines and therapies. It will eventually take away all your choices in health care, including your choice of doctor.

With your help, The Seniors Coalition will lead the fight to repeal the Federal Health Control Law. Ever since we got started during the successful battle to repeal the hated "Catastrophic Coverage Act" in 1989, The Seniors Coalition has fought every plan to ration your health care or take away your choice of doctor. "Obamacare" must be repealed . . . but that may never happen without your help.

At the same time, we'll fight to protect your retirement security with a guaranteed annual Cost-of-Living Adjustment (CoLA) . We'll also fight to protect your Social Security Trust Funds with a "Lock Box," so your future benefits can't be raided to pay for the politicians' wasteful "earmarks."
