LISTENING TO AMERICA
SURVEY
Dear Fellow Republican,
I
want to know what you think about the state of our nation. As our
Republican House Majority continues the fight to stop ObamaCare, get to the
bottom of Benghazi and the IRS scandals, and advance common-sense
solutions for jobs, we need to know that hard-working Americans like you are
with us.
You
see, President Obama and his Democratic allies are desperate . . . they
promised ObamaCare would lower costs and create a simpler health care system –
in reality ObamaCare is destroying jobs, increasing health care costs, and
keeping Americans from seeing the doctor they trust.
The
Democrats who control Washington have failed to get our economy moving the way it
should be. And they realize it's a big problem when Americans can't count on
their government for some semblance of truth and honesty.
But
rather than change course, and work with Republicans to get things done for the
American people, the Left is doubling down, and raising millions of dollars to
try and re-install Nancy Pelosi as Speaker again.
If
they succeed, there will be no stopping them. No checks. No balances. No one to hold the president and his army of federal bureaucrats
accountable.
Republicans
can keep that from happening, but only by listening to citizens like
you and making sure the House of Representatives fights for the will of the
people. That is why I am writing you this letter today and why I am anxious to
hear back from you.
Enclosed
you will find your 2013 LISTENING TO
AMERICA SURVEY which was assigned and prepared specifically- for you as a Representative
of Republicans living in your voting district...
Please
take between 5-7 minutes today to complete your 2013 LISTENING TO AMERICA SURVEY and then mail it back to me using the postage-paid
envelope I've provided.
Once
we receive your response – and those from thousands of other Republicans in
precincts across America – we will tabulate the results and present them to
our House Republican Conference.
Your
voice is tremendously important. House Republicans want to provide active conservative
leadership – and we want to make a real difference on behalf of the American
people who want solutions to fix our broken tax code, address our government's
spending problem, and lower health care costs.
But
the months ahead will be difficult... President Obama and his Democratic allies
are 100% focused on winning the House and giving President Obama a rubber stamp
House to go along with his rubber stamp Senate.
And
so, for us to prevail, we must have your active involvement. That's why it's important
for you to answer the questions on your 2013
LISTENING TO AMERICA SURVEY and rush it back to me as soon as possible. You can
do a lot for our team by simply telling me your opinions on issues like:
Repealing ObamaCare ‒ Do you support House Republican efforts to
defund, dismantle and repeal ObamaCare so we can move forward with
patient-centered reforms that lower costs and protect jobs? Obviously, this
will be a long-term project. But we have to do it. ObamaCare is already driving
up the cost of health insurance. And – despite the president's promise that
"if you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care
plan" – many employers are being forced to drop coverage. Others are
cutting jobs. House Republicans have succeeded in getting President Obama to
sign seven bills to repeal parts of the
law, including its small business paperwork mandate and various slush funds.
Do you agree we should continue doing everything in our power to rip out this
disastrous law by its roots? Should we slash ObamaCare funding at every
opportunity?
Cutting Government Spending ‒ Democrats have used their power in Washington to run up the largest deficits in American history –
in 2009 and 2010 – and push our national debt to $17 trillion. Government
spending as a percentage of our national GDP is higher than it's been since
World War II. We DO have a spending problem - a big one! Do you
support House Republican efforts to cut spending and balance our budget within
10 years to help the economy grow? Do you back House Republicans' landmark ban
on "earmarks"? Should we continue to press for meaningful reforms to
save Medicare and Social Security from bankruptcy?
Keeping Taxes Low ‒ President Obama and Nancy Pelosi can demand "revenue" all they want,
but the simple fact is tax hikes destroy jobs and put the real, robust economic
growth we so desperately need further out of reach. Do you support tax reform
that closes special interest loopholes, and lowers overall rates? Do you agree
that creating a fairer, simpler tax code will help bring home jobs that have
gone overseas in recent years?
Delivering Truth and Accountability – It is a disgrace that one year later, not a single
terrorist has been brought to justice for participating in the attack on our
consulate in Benghazi that resulted in the loss of four American lives.
Serious questions remain unanswered about the administration's handling of Benghazi – as well as the IRS' illegal targeting of
conservative groups. Do you support our House Majority's continued efforts to
deliver answers, accountability and justice? Are you concerned that the IRS is
charged with enforcing ObamaCare?
Creating New Jobs ‒ Because the
president's policies have failed, the House has passed a series of common-sense
job measures designed to help small businesses invest and hire. Do you agree
that eliminating excessive regulations and expanding American energy production
will help create jobs?
We
need to know what you think on these issues and others right away. Your input
is critical if we're going to live up to our pledge to put an end to business
as usual in Washington, to effectively fight back against the president and the
liberal establishment, and to give small businesses and entrepreneurs greater
confidence in our economy.
We know that in order to represent your
values and your priorities, we have to listen. Our 2013 LISTENING TO AMERICA SURVEY is one part of that effort.
Will
you please help me restore American principles and rekindle the American Dream
for millions of people? Like you, I've been blessed to realize my own version
of the American Dream.
I
grew up in a small town just outside Cincinnati, Ohio, with 11 brothers and sisters. My dad owned a tavern –
Andy's Café – that my grandfather started in 1938. What little money my parents
had they used to send all of us to Catholic schools. I worked nights as a
janitor to put myself through college.
Only
in America could someone from these humble beginnings go on to run a small
business and then have the opportunity to serve in the U.S. House of
Representatives, much less to have the honor of serving as Speaker of the
House.
To
return our country to prosperity and ensure the American Dream is alive and
well for our children and grandchildren, our House Republican Majority is
fighting for a smaller, more accountable government that respects the will of
the people.
So
please help us represent you by giving us your input. WE – the Republican House Majority – are your conservative voice in
Washington.
Because
the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) could not afford to
print and mail a 2013 LISTENING TO AMERICA SURVEY to each and every one of the 54,000,000 Republicans
nationwide, your answers will represent the views of Republican voters living
in your district.
So
even if you are undecided about some questions, please complete and return your
SURVEY DOCUMENT within five days.
Because
of your past support for our conservative cause, your 2013 LISTENING TO AMERICA SURVEY is among the first to be mailed. And based on your
response, the NRCC is planning to print and mail a 2013 LISTENING TO AMERICA SURVEY to a total of 4.1 million Republican
households over the next six months as we continue to reach out and listen. But
at a cost of $.49 each, this project will cost the NRCC more than $2 million.
So
when you return your completed SURVEY DOCUMENT, please also enclose a
contribution of $35, $50, $100, $250 or even $500 to help the NRCC expand this
project and build more support for our fight to create new jobs, cut spending,
repeal ObamaCare, and hold Obama administration officials accountable.
The
sooner we can analyze the results of this LISTENING
TO AMERICA SURVEY, the sooner we can take action. So please don't set your SURVEY DOCUMENT aside for later.
In
addition to your valuable answers, I also hope I can count on you to send a
special gift in support of the NRCC at this critical time. This project is an
enormous undertaking and we need your help to fund it. Your financial gift will
help pay for printing, mailing, tabulating and analyzing this LISTENING TO AMERICA project.
And
your answers – along with those from thousands of other knowledgeable
Republicans – will make a huge difference for us as we work to make sure that
the priorities of the people, not left-wing special interest groups, carry the
day in Democrat-controlled Washington.
House
Republicans are counting on you to stand with us once again, as we lead the charge
in 2013 to protect our Party's banner of freedom, economic opportunity, limited
government, and accountability.
So
please complete and return your 2013
LISTENING TO AMERICA SURVEY. And remember to mail it back with your contribution
of $35, $50, $100, $250 or even $500 to the NRCC. Thank you again for all of
your support. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
John
Boehner
Speaker
of the House
P. S. Please
fill out and return your 2013 LISTENING
TO AMERICA SURVEY within five days. Our government is out of control.
The only way we will ever repeal ObamaCare, get to the bottom of Benghazi and the IRS scandals, and break out of this "new
normal" of stagnant wages, rising prices and persistently high
unemployment is by strengthening our Republican House Majority. We need to know
that millions of hard-working Americans like you are with us as we work to
achieve a smaller, more accountable government. So even if you're not sure
about one or two questions, please mail in your completed SURVEY DOCUMENT using the postage-paid envelope enclosed.
And
please also include one special contribution of $35. $50.
$100. $250 or $500 to the National
Republican Congressional Committee to help pay for this important project.
Thank you again, in advance. It's an honor to serve as Speaker and to have you
on our Republican team at this critical moment for America.
