Cut + Splice + Censor = Lie. That's
the NBC News formula for altering videotapes to push its leftist agenda, and
present them as "objective news" on air.
On three recent occasions, we at the Media Research Center (MRC) now
have caught NBC and MSNBC dishonestly editing footage in order to push their
liberal political agenda . . . editing or censoring sound and video and then
presenting it to their audience as fact.
The
most recent incident of NBC News getting caught occurred during the nationwide
discussion on gun rights after the Sandy Hook school
shooting. That was the third time in
just the past year!
There
is now a clear pattern of deception at NBC News -- flagrant violations of
journalistic ethics. Doing it once may be an unfortunate stumble. Doing it
three times shows a corporate policy.
And
when each instance of selective editing was designed to support their leftist
agenda it's clear this "news" network will stop at nothing.
First
they edited the Trayvon Martin 911 call to fabricate a racist motive. Then Andrea Mitchell tried to invent a fake
"supermarket scanner moment" to embarrass and humiliate Mitt Romney
in the middle of a presidential campaign. Now MSNBC is deceptively editing
footage of Sandy Hook testimony in order to smear gun rights advocates.
If media giants like NBC/MSNBC can get
away with such outright censorship and lies, their power over American politics
is virtually unlimited.
That's

In a
minute I'll tell you why joining this protest against NBC's flagrant censorship
of the news today can double your impact! But first let me remind you about the
time NBC got caught deceptively editing videotape when the George Zimmerman shooting of Trayvon Martin was dominating the
headlines.
NBC's Today show deliberately edited the call Zimmerman placed to 9-1-1 to make him look racist. By cutting essential portions of the call, NBC made
it appear it was Zimmerman who brought up Martin's race to the 9-1-1 operator, and was racially profiling him.
Then
NBC and its sister network MSNBC broadcast this slander of Zimmerman . . . over and over and over again. Why would they
do such a thing?
Because it advanced the leftist "racism towards a
minority by a white man" narrative NBC and MSNBC wanted to push in the
run-up to the 2012 elections.
Except
. . . It turns out Zimmerman is no racist . . . he's not even a white man; he's Hispanic! . . . It was the 9-1-1 operator, not Zimmerman, who brought up the question
of Trayvon Martin's race!
Here
is what the NBC audience saw and heard: Zimmerman is talking to a police
dispatcher:
"This guy looks like he's up to no
good.
He looks black."
Clearly
it was racially motivated, right? Here's the real 9-1-1 tape before NBC cut out key words to smear
Zimmerman:
Zimmerman: "This
guy looks like he's up to no good, or he's on drugs or something, It's raining and he's just walking around, looking
about."
Dispatcher: "OK,
and this guy, is he black, white or Hispanic?"
Zimmerman: "He looks black."
So
there was nothing to this. A complete non-story! And NBC perpetrated this
journalistic fraud while their own anchor, MSNBC's Al Sharpton,
was leading demonstrations against Zimmerman in Florida, further fanning the flames of racial strife.
This
is the same Al Sharpton who gained fame by falsely
accusing white men of gang-raping a 15-year-old black girl in the 1980s. And the same Al Sharpton who venomously
slurred Jews in Crown Heights, New York as "Diamond Merchants"
and "white interlopers."
I
didn't think NBC could sink any lower after they gave this race hustling
charlatan his own nightly show on MSNBC. But sink lower they did by their
deliberate editing of that 9-1-1
call to smear Zimmerman as a racist -- and stir up racial strife all across the
country.
The
MRC caught NBC. And I broke this news to a nationwide audience on Sean
Hannity's Fox News show.
After
my appearance, other media outlets (reluctantly) reported the story. Even the
leftwing New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Hollywood Reporter
and other media outlets credited the MRC with exposing NBC's fraud.
NBC
tried to bury the scandal by launching an "internal investigation" --
resulting in three lower-level employees getting fired. But I'm not falling for
it -- and you shouldn't either. NBC never has apologized to their
own viewers. NEVER!
Remember,
the Zimmerman scandal was only the first time the NRC has caught NBC red-handed
doctoring tapes. The second time was right in the middle of the last
presidential election, when the MRC again caught NBC "cooking the
books". This time they edited a
tape of Mitt Romney to make him look "out of touch," and foolish.
MSNBC doctored video of Romney discussing a Wawa convenience store to make it seem
as if he'd never been in such an establishment before -- presumably because he
was too rich and too white.
Andrea
Mitchell introduced the doctored tape by saying: "I get the feeling --
take a look at this -- that Mitt Romney has not been
in too many Wawa's along the roadside in Pennsylvania." (Snicker, snicker.)
This
is what those watching MSNBC saw and heard Romney say:
"I
was at Wawa's, I wanted to order a sandwich. You press
a little touchtone keypad, alright, you just touch that, and you know, the
sandwich comes at you, touch this, touch this, go pay the cashier, there's your
sandwich. It's amazing."
Feigning
being speechless, Mitchell repeats, "It's amazing," as her studio
guest burst out in laughter.
But MSNBC was playing games. They had
censored information, deliberately.
You
see, Romney was discussing the difference between private and public sector
efficiency. He was talking about the incompetency of government.
He
offered the touch-tone sandwich ordering as an example of private sector
innovation that would never come out of the government sector.
In
fact, it was an excellent point! It doesn't matter what you think of Mitt
Romney. It was a smear.
After
the NRC documented MSNBC's deception, did they admit they were wrong? Apologize
to Romney and their viewers? NO WAY!
The
next day, Andrea Mitchell simply showed the entire clip, with the context
restored, without ever having the decency to admit that she and MSNBC had
previously tried to get away with pushing a falsified version of it.
What
arrogance! They don't think you and I are paying attention. These outrages must

barely coherent Ed Schultz . . . and Rachel Maddow, of whom even the reliably
liberal Newsweek magazine said, "she can get so wound up ripping
Republicans that she sounds like another smug cable partisan."
And
what we now know is that a lot of that remaining 15% is filled with . . . well,
not "news," exactly, but doctored, censored propaganda.

The
most recent example of NBC's shenanigans was when MSNBC ran footage of the testimony
of the father of a Sandy Hook victim, in which it appears he is heckled by gun
rights activists. It was a deliberate smear of gun owners.
MSNBC's accompanying graphics box read
"Mocked and Loaded. Sandy Hook
Victim's Father Heckled by Gun Rights Advocates."
That's
awful, isn't it? Except it wasn't true. In reality, he was not heckled. He posed a verbal
challenge to the audience, and the audience rightly responded. The MSNBC
version deliberately cut out his challenge to make it appear as though he was
interrupted by heckling gun advocates!
NBC's journalistic fraud goes far, far
beyond the liberal media lies and distortions seen at ABC, CBS, CNN, PBS and
other news outlets.
They're
all coddling Barack Obama and the leftists, and peddling the vilest forms of
anti-conservative venom presented as "news" that I've ever seen.
By
literally censoring tapes and presenting them to nationwide audiences as FACT, NBC takes media bias to levels never seen
before.
What's
more, the three tape-editing scandals I've described in this letter aren't
isolated incidents at NBC.
When
the network covered a major 2007 Obama speech at Hampton University, a traditionally black college, they censored the video to remove his praise for
his controversial pastor Jeremiah Wright:
a
"great leader, not just in Chicago, but all across the country" . . . because
Rev. Wright's extreme anti-Americanism was by then becoming an embarrassment to
his protιgι,
Mr.
Obama. Even worse than praising Wright, the unedited tape revealed Obama's ugly
race baiting over the Hurricane Katrina disaster that struck New Orleans in 2005.
He
implied the federal government wasn't interested in doing everything possible
to help the black victims of the natural disaster because of their race.
Again,
instead of admitting their dishonesty for editing out this paranoid fantasy,
Chuck Todd, Savannah Guthrie, David Gregory and the rest of NBC's talking heads
blamed -- I'm not making this up -- the Romney campaign for talking about
Obama's speech!
Think
about that for just a second. NBC gets caught -- yet again -- editing a tape to
protect its chosen candidate for president. And the network's
response? Repeat Obama campaign talking points and trash his opponent!
