Congress is raising our Medicare
Premiums
Dear Senior,
[12-2013
letter] I want to have a conversation with you unlike any other that you and I
have ever had before. I am asking you to listen carefully to me...
I
realize that you are reading my words, but I am clearly visualizing you sitting
in front of me in my office at the American Federation of Senior Citizens. And
I imagine that you and I are having a conversation.
But
I want to be clear that the conversation you and I are about to have is unlike
any other we have had before. The news I am about to relay may very well affect
every aspect of your life – perhaps even your loved ones...
My
words are serious, my tone is grave. For that reason I am asking you to listen
carefully to me. And I will do my best to listen to you...
Because
I am asking you to make a choice on this day – a date that you may remember for
years to come. I am asking you to decide whether you want the American
Federation of Senior Citizens to continue to fight for your health care... or
if you want to end the fight – to give in.
I do
not ask this question lightly. It is with a heavy heart, a burdened soul and
trembling resolve that I am approaching you to have this conversation.
One
thing is clear: you and I cannot be lulled into thinking that inaction is not
harming us any longer. Listen carefully to me as I tell you the truth of what
our inaction is causing right now.
Right
now Congress is raising our Medicare
Premiums at a rate that is far faster and greater than the Cost of Living
Increases allotted. And they show no signs of stopping these increases.
But
their increases are not offsetting the cost of the program... not to mention
keeping up with the ever-growing list of Medicare recipients.
In
fact, many Medicare recipients can barely manage the cost of premiums – they
are being forced to choose between food and medicine... a choice that no senior
should ever be forced to make.
The
American Federation of Senior Citizens will continue to take your side and
fight for you... but I need to know that is what you want.
I
have sent you two stickers, one bearing the word YES, and the other with the
word NO. I am asking you to decide.
If
you want the American Federation of Senior Citizens to continue to fight to
protect your well being and health care rights against the liberal
establishment in Washington, then please complete the enclosed Personal Response
to me, sealing it in the enclosed envelope using the sticker with the word
YES...
...and
if you want the American Federation of Senior Citizens to give up the fight –
to continue to allow your Medicare premiums to be raised and your health care
to be endangered, then complete the same Personal Response, this time using the
sticker with the word NO to seal the envelope.
I
need to know if I have your support in this fight. Because right now politicians
in Washington, D.C. are putting partisan politics ahead of the future of
our health care.
You
and I can fight back – but for the American Federation of Senior Citizens to
mount a real defense – I need to know you are standing with me in the fight.
Do you want the American Federation of
Senior Citizens to fight for the repeal of the Medicare Premium increases? Do you want
legislation enacted that would prevent Congress from raising Medicare Premiums
beyond the cost of living? Do you want the American Federation of Senior
Citizens to fight for the same quality, affordable and reliable health care
that other Americans have access to?
If
so, then please immediately send me your Personal Response indicating that –
and together you and I will stand in the fight to roll back the Medicare
Premium increases and demand reform now.
Listen
carefully to me – right now your Medicare is in more danger than it has
ever been before.
With liberals in Washington gaining more power over you, me and every American
with each passing day, the danger is even more immediate and threatening.
I
know that you are aware that Medicare is about to go bankrupt. And with
Medicare being cut by $716 billion under ObamaCare... Medicare is in danger
like never before.
Listen
carefully to me – if we fail to repeal ObamaCare and save Medicare from these
drastic cuts, it will be a disaster for you, for me and for the entire nation.
I
need to know – do you want the American Federation of Senior Citizens to
continue to fight to protect you?
If
so, then please tell me in your Personal Response, giving me directive to turn
up the heat and also providing me with the ammunition needed with your generous
contribution – the maximum you can manage to help in this fight.
Then
seal your response envelope using the enclosed sticker bearing the word YES, so
that I immediately know you are in my corner.
If
you are ready to give in – tell me that too in your Personal Response – so that
I do not continue to fight for something you have given up on and do not
continue to believe I have a partner standing with me in battle.
And
seal your response envelope with the enclosed sticker bearing the word NO so
that I have the bad news immediately.
Whatever
you do – respond. And whatever you do – send a contribution – whether it is $60
or $40 – a contribution to help the American Federation of Senior Citizens
fight for the repeal of high premiums, to protect your health care and to
prevent disaster.
Once
more, listen to me... our inaction is hurting us. Please do not let disaster
occur. Now I want to listen to you – please immediately return your [requested]
Personal Response along with your contribution of $60 or $40 to help in the
fight. I need to know if you are standing with me in this fight to protect you.
Thank you (AFSC – FRC, P.O. Box 96414, Washington, D.C. 20090-6414).
