There is so much Bible scripture that points to our Savior. Just a few here describes what he went through on the cross for the ones he loves. All what Jesus did does reveal the true person of God the Father ( John 14:9-11). After seeing our Savior's good works and miracles the rulers took counsel against him and crucified him outside of the camp as though he was a criminal. His disciples were offended and one denied him ( Mat 26:30-35 1). He was betrayed ( Mat 26:20-25 2), forsaken ( Mat 26:56; Mark 14:50) even by his very own. Reproached, falsely accused, despised, spoken against, laughed at, spit upon, stricken, had his beard pulled out. People's heads waged at him as they passed. A crown of thorns was put on his head. His hands, feet and side were pierced. They parted his clothes and left him naked on the cross. Vinegar mixed with gall was for his thirst. He took the curse for us and stayed on the tree. "For God so love the world" (John 3:16 3) that He even turned his back on His only ( John 1:14 4) begotten Son ( Acts 13:33 5) because Jesus was "the Lamb of God" (John 1:29) "slain from the foundation of the world" ( Rev 13:8) who was to bare the sin of many (1 Pet 2:24 6), giving His life a ransom for many ( Mat 20:28; Mark 10:45). And even after all what He went through He ask His Father, "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do" (Luke 23:34).

"Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith the LORD of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones." (Zec 13:7 KJV)

"And Jesus saith unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered. " (Mark 14:27 KJV)

"Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me." (Psa 41:9 KJV)

"And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me. " (Mat 26:21 KJV)

"And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver." (Zec 11:12 KJV)

"Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver. And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him." (Mat 26:14-16 KJV)

"And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly." (Mat 26:75 KJV)

"...he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living..." 7 (Isa 53:7-8 KJV)

"The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth: In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth." (Acts 8:32-33 KJV)

"...he was numbered with the transgressors..." 7 (Isa 53:12 KJV)

"For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors..." (Luke 22:37 KJV)

"The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying," (Psa 2:2 KJV)

"Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas," (Mat 26:3 KJV)
"And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!" (Mat 27:29 KJV)

"I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting." (Isa 50:6 KJV)

"Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands," (Mat 26:67 KJV)

"And the bullock for the sin offering, and the goat for the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the holy place, shall one carry forth without the camp; and they shall burn in the fire their skins, and their flesh, and their dung." (Lev 16:27 KJV)

"For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp. Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate. Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach." (Heb 13:11-13 KJV)

"But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people." (Psa 22:6 KJV)

"And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads, And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross. Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said, He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him. He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God. The thieves also, which were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth." (Mat 27:39-44 KJV)

Suffering Servant

(Isa 53:1-12 KJV) "Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? 8 {2} For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. {3} He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. {4} Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. {5} But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. {6} All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. {7} He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. {8} He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. {9} And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. {10} Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. {11} He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. {12} Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors."

Suffering Jesus

Jesus told his disciples that He would and did suffer.

"From that time forth began Jesus to show unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee. But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men. " (Mat 16:21-23 KJV)

"And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. And he spake that saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him. But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men. " (Mark 8:31-33 KJV)

"But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them." (Mat 17:12 KJV)

"And he answered and told them, Elias verily cometh first, and restoreth all things; and how it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things, and be set at nought. " (Mark 9:12 KJV)

"Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day. " (Luke 9:22 KJV)

"But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation." (Luke 17:25 KJV)

(Luke 18:31-34 KJV) "Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. {32} For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on: {33} And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again. {34} And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken."

"And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer: " (Luke 22:15 KJV)

"And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: " (Luke 24:46 KJV)

"For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:" (1 Pet 3:18 KJV)

"But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings." (Heb 2:9-10 KJV)
